HistoryThe left side of the Pump Street shows some typical beguine houses. To the right, the houses have been broken down and replaced by garden walls. Houses number 4-7 of the Ditch Side Street were on the decline until a few years ago, but now restored in their old state.

Murder tipThe old man living in house number 6 opens the door as soon as you approach the place. "Here", he says, "I can't help you with the murder, but one of your officers asked me to draw a plan of the beguinage. You're lucky, I copied it from one of my books, so it must be accurate". (click picture to open in a new window) It's easy to see that this man can't have anything to do with the murder: he can't even walk without two crutches. |
