History

Originally, the left side of the street was not cultivated. It was used as a bleach place for linen until the 18th century.

Between 1721 and 1726, the houses at the left were gradually built, all in about the same style.

The black plinths were a measure of hygiene, superfluous in these cleaner times, but renovated to keep the historical view.

The house to the east, number 4, was the workplace of Felix Timmermans for a while.

Murder tip

The street is straight, so of someone moves through any part of the street, you can see him. There's no way to hide (apart from the side streets and the gate behind you).
